Horse Vs. Pony

What is the difference between a horse and a pony?

Quite simple, it comes down to size!

The largest is a horse, then a pony, then a miniature horse - while they technically have the height of a pony they have the characteristics of horses even though they are often smaller than typical ponies!

Horse - Larger than 14.2 hands
Pony - Less than 14.2 hands
Miniature Horse - Less than 8.5 hands

Ponies are not baby horses, a baby horse is a foal. Foals are also baby ponies or baby miniature horses. A colt is a male foal and a filly is a female foal.

A Lifeline

"A twist
A turn
A soft gentle murmur
A rub
A hug
A whisper of fairy tales
A trot
A gallop
A voice in the tears
A canter
A run
A lifeline through the fear"

~Grace Marshall

Beat The Wind

"You snort out steam
You speak a dream
You beat the wind
As hearts you win

You mimic fire
You never tire
You whinny out fear
And all come near"

Hoofbeats

"Hoofbeats
Hoofbeats resounding through the air
Resounding through my heart
A soft, pounding chorus of life
A whinny echoes
Gently across the air
As the dust settles
The sunlight filtering through
She tosses her mane
And her nares flare
She's free
Free to sound hoofbeats
Across the endless plains"
