Akhal-Teke


Name of Breed: Akhal-Teke


Height: 14 - 16 hands, usually closer to 15-16 hands


Colors: Dominant Black, Bay, Grey, Chestnut, Dun, Palomino, Golden, Cremello, Grulla, and Perlino


Distinguishing Physical Characteristics: Long back, and long, upright neck.  Long ears on a refined head. Thin mane and tail. Sloping shoulders, thin skin. Often have blue or marbled eyes. Bred for endurance, very tough and resilient.


Additional Info:  They are the national emblem of Turkmenistan. (that is also where the breed is from.)

Andalusian

Name of Breed: Andalusian


Height: 15.2 - 16.2 hands


Colors: Most often they are gray, but can be other colors such as: white, bay, black, chestnut, cremello, perlino, buckskin, palomino, and dun.


Distinguishing Physical Characteristics: Thick mane and tail, flat nose, small ears, compact horse, massive chest, thick neck, and small hindquarters.


Additional Info: They are affectionate, quick to learn, strong, and have a good temperament. 
They are a Spanish breed. 
They have lively gaits. 
They are often used in dressage showing.

Falabella


Name of Breed: Falabella


Height: Less than 8 hands (it is a miniature horse breed)


Colors: Any color


Distinguishing Physical Characteristics: They are tiny! They also have thick tails and manes and the head is heavy and large.

Additional Info: Intelligent. Friendly. Easily Trainable. Pure ancestry. Often used as driving horses, they can also be used as guide horses. Developed in Argentina by the Falabella family, which the horse is named after.

Arabian


Name of Breed: Arabian


Height: 14.1 to 15.1 hands


Colors: Gray, bay, chestnut, roan, and black


Distinguishing Physical Characteristics: Small and refined head. Large, wide-set eyes. Long and arched neck. Long and sloping shoulder. Flat through crop with high tail.

Additional Info: Very sturdy and sound. One of the oldest purebred breeds, dating back thousands of years. Very intelligent, curious, and friendly. Endurance horses.

American Saddlebred


Name of Breed: American Saddlebred



Height: 14 to 17 hands



Colors: Almost any color, including: Bay, Brown, Chestnut, Black,


Distinguishing Physical Characteristics: Refined head, balanced proportions, densely muscled, high set tail, close together ears, and prominent withers.


Additional Info: Probably the most commonly known and noticeable trait of an American Saddlebred is the fact that it's a gaited horse. It is also agile and fast.

Fjord Horse






Name of Breed: Fjord Horse


Height: 12.5 to 14.5 hands high (typically 13.2 to 14.2 hands high)
(they are considered are horse even if they are pony size)


Colors: Basically dun. They can be variations of dun, such as: Yellow Dun, White Dun, Grey Dun, Red Dun, or, of course, Brown Dun.


Distinguishing Physical Characteristics: Stocky, strong, small and agile draft horse, and a thick and heavy mane (manes are usually roached to stand straight up). Necks have a defined crest. 


Additional Info: They have a good temperament, are intelligent, like people, and are quite curious. They are an older, selectively bred breed. Used in a variety of disciplines.
